Fifth and sixth-form Classics students
visiting the British Museum in October to see
the exhibition ‘Life and Death in Pompeii and
Herculaneum’, took the time to study the
Parthenon sculptures too.
The following month, Classicists from Middle
and Upper School went to Sicily to visit the
numerous, beautiful classical sites there.
Enriching the Curriculum
During the second week of half
term, Spanish students from St
Helen’s and Abingdon spent eight
days with their exchange partners in
Santiago de Compostela.
The sixth-formers
acted as guides
to the rest of the
group, attracting
audiences of
other visitors who
praised the boys’
presentations.
Lower-sixth
Geographers went
to India over the
summer and saw
for themselves
the splendour, the
poverty and the
progress.
Fourth year art students
visited Tate Modern in October
to study and analyse the
works of art there at !rst hand.
