These awards recognise excellence in academic work, drama, sport, design and technology, art and music. Many congratulations to all. Badger Behaviour Project The latest edition of the academic journal School Science Review, includes an article describing the ASP’s recent Royal Society Partnership Grant project. The project engaged local schools in monitoring wildlife behaviour using a network of camera traps. Partners in the project were Dunmore and Caldecott Primary Schools, Fitzharrys School and Science Oxford. Scholars’ Induction The Abingdon Science Partnership, ASP, was delighted to run our first primary science workshop of the term with Year 6 pupils from Welford and Wickham Primary School. The children started off by drawing a life-size outline of themselves and identifying as many organs as they could, before focusing on the heart. Rowing partnership As part of our growing partnership with other schools in the community, we welcomed eight students and staff from Larkmead School for the inaugural session of a new rowing programme. ASiP colleague and rowing coach, Mike Webb, with the help of the partnership team, has set up and begun an ‘Introduction to Rowing’ programme to introduce more local young people to the sport. Primary Science Workshop The new cohort of over 60 Peer Support Leads, PSLs, from Abingdon, Fitzharrys, John Mason, Larkmead, St Helen’s and Radley College underwent training in their new role. Their skills will be put to good use supporting the mental health and wellbeing of young people within their own school as part of a town wide mentoring program. Peer Support Leads
