www.abingdon.org.uk 21 Badminton Water polo Henley Royal Regatta Last year’s first VIII put in a strong performance, narrowly losing to St Edward’s on Day 3 of the Regatta which, due to the pandemic, was held in August this year. The team is starting to come together well. The 1st VIII won 3, drew 1 and lost 1 and the 2nds have an unbeaten record, playing and winning 3. The water polo squad thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to compete regularly against other schools for the first time this term. The ESSA national championships saw an excellent performance from a rapidly improving squad. The Club made a tremendous start to the season with a record number of students representing the School, making selection for the performance squads very competitive. The junior squad excelled, finishing 9th, at the regional round of the English Schools Cup competition, and the intermediate and senior teams were very impressive reaching the National Cup Final where the Seniors finished in a very impressive second place.
