20 January 2022 Abingdon Sport This season was tough with most students not having played a match in 18 months, and it took time to regain confidence with many players adapting to new positions and getting to grips with new roles. Everyone showed great commitment and perseverance, leading to some brilliant team results. Well done to all pupils who have committed with such passion and desire. Rugby Swimming Basketball The U16 basketball team started the season in fantastic style recording a record away win against tough opposition, Stowe. The U18s put in an equally convincing display, with a sublime performance and record victory. The swim team competed in the ESSA national qualifiers finishing in the top 30 nationally in most events. Competition was tough this term with meets against Charterhouse, Harrow, Stowe, Eton, Warwick and Oundle. Amongst the many successes, Ethan Richards- Knight broke the Junior 50 FS record, Joe Watkiss the Senior 100 BRS record and the squadron relay team broke the 6x50 FS record. Victories against St Edward’s, RGS High Wycombe, Radley, Stowe, Berkhamsted and Tring were just some of the highlights of this very successful term. In the National Schools competition, the seniors are playing in the Shield and the juniors did brilliantly to qualify for the next round of the Championship. Squash
