www.abingdon.org.uk 19 The Junior Blues group gets together every week with guitars, trumpets and drums. The group is just one of over 20 musical activities at Abingdon. Abingdon Music Senior Instrumental Solo Competition It was a privilege to have the concert violinist and teacher, Sebastian Mueller, work with six of Abingdon’s promising young violinists for what was an inspirational evening of teaching and learning. Christmas Concert It was a delight to be back in the Amey Theatre for the finale of the calendar year in the Music department. Bands, orchestras and choirs featuring musicians from the First Year to Upper Sixth, entertained an appreciative audience with a very wide-ranging repertoire. We were treated to some outstanding performances from 11 of Abingdon’s post grade 8 musicians. The competition was extremely tough for the adjudicator, Anthony Williams, the Head of Instrumental Studies at Radley College. After some excellent performances, first place and the cup went to pianist, Laurence Peverall for his Rachmaninov. Violin Masterclass Junior Blues
