www.abingdon.org.uk 13 Getting to know Abingdon and Oxford The new boarders explored Abingdon on an orientation walk. They discovered the River Thames, the original abbey that gives Abingdon its name, and visited the site of Abingdon School before it moved to its present location 150 years ago. The boarders also enjoyed some free time to sample the cafes and shops of the town centre. Cotswold Wildlife Park Boarders discovered meerkats, snakes and a 2-month old baby rhino amongst the many animals to be seen during their trip to the Park. Team building Students took on problem solving and laser tag as part of their team building day on Upper Field. Radcliffe Camera On the Sunday of their second full weekend at Abingdon, the new boarders visited Oxford and enjoyed its culture and magnificent buildings. Stonehenge Boarders visited the World Heritage Site and were able to walk amongst the Neolithic houses to get a flavour of the living conditions at the time. Boarding GoApe Intrepid boarders relished the challenges! Cooking lessons Culinary indulgencies included delicious cheese scones and sweet scones with cream and jam. Students were very proud of their baking abilities!
