16 April 2021 Abingdon Sport Many congratulations to OA (2020) Charlie Atkinson on his selection into the England Rugby shadow training squad for the Guinness Six Nations. Charlie has had an incredible start to his first full year of professional rugby, appearing at fly-half for Wasps, scoring tries, and playing in notable victories over Montpellier and Sale. Being selected for England is a huge achievement and a credit to all his hard work and dedication. OA selected for England Squad Swimming clean sweep In January we received the results of the virtual swimming gala organized by King’s High School last term. The swim team had met up in their bubbles and recorded times for certain events which they submitted online. Despite the disruption to their regular training due to restrictions and lockdown the squad put in a fine effort and managed to place first in every single event for both the U16 and U18 categories. England Rifle Team Selection Congratulations to Will Shorrocks, Oscar Bennett and Ben MacLennan on being selected for the England B, C and D Rifle Teams, respectively, in the British Schools’ Small-bore Rifle Association National Match 2021. Lower school pupils rounded off their first day of remote learning in January with a high energy core sport lesson. Core Training Sixth form kayakers, not to be deterred by lockdown, have been developing safety and rescue skills over the past half term. Practising on dry land Returning to school after lockdown, lower school students were very happy to play some team sport together at Tilsley Park.
