18 January 2021 Abingdon Preparatory School Year 4 made the most of the glorious weather on their Ridgeway walk finishing at White Horse Hill which afforded some stunning views across the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Year 5 and 6 Art Club experimented with making marks, or zentangles, to create patterns using the portraits of some very famous artists. Much fun was had when restyling the hair of Van Gogh and the Mona Lisa, complemented in bold backgrounds using a specialist gouache matt paint for instant drama! Reception relished their first school trip to Cogges Farm – exploring the farm buildings, house, and the playground. They learnt how bread is made, hunted for eggs and were a very receptive audience for the puppet show. Year 8 took their biology lesson outside learning to use keys to identify trees. Back in the lab the boys have been studying photosynthesis. Year 7 thoroughly enjoyed outside learning when they could, here they are investigating the effect of exercise on heart rate. Science Trips Year 8 had an action-packed day at the Natural History Museum in Oxford learning about classification from the museum staff and studying the exhibitions. Zentangles
