[email protected] 01235 849123 • Design – www.petergreenland.com Abingdon Out of the Past After 300 years in the old schoolroom in the centre of town, and before that more than 300 years in various locations along Stert Street, Abingdon School moved to new, purpose built premises in April 1870. Designed to accommodate 124 pupils there were only 45 when the school opened. Today there are more than 1,000. The two photographs show what a difference the years have made. The first one, although taken in 1939, shows the School as it had been since 1902. The second photograph was taken in 2018.
