Abingdon News January 2020 | No. 52 The range and quality of music at the Christmas Concerts hints at the emergence of a golden era in music at Abingdon. The concerts featured a wide range of choral, orchestral and band music from all year groups. The Second Orchestra is very strong and our First Orchestra was in dramatic form in Sibelius’ Finlandia and in Bruch’s violin concerto. July saw an epic Orchestra and Big Band tour to Japan and Hong Kong, and we have also enjoyed fascinating masterclasses, competitions, and study days. With much interest in music awards at the school next year, there is little doubt that we are entering an exciting phase of music at Abingdon. Exciting Advances in Music at Abingdon
