Abingdon News Lower School practised drawing and illustration skills inspired by Marcello Barenghi. Team building helps the first years to settle in and get to know each other. This term saw Abingdon’s inaugural conference held at the school, AbingMUN18. Over 150 delegates from nine schools took part and debates included sanctions against developing nations, the Iranian nuclear deal, contemporary slavery and the deforestation and destruction of habitats. Delegates also heard a fascinating and insightful speech by Colm Wilson, a senior humanitarian advisor at the Department for International Development. The standard of debate was very high and it was a tremendous occasion for all those involved. Model United Nations Conference 9
