www.abingdon.org.uk 17 The Rifle Club took a team to Stade, Germany, for the biennial tour and competition. As always, the hospitality was fantastic and the trip was thoroughly enjoyed by all despite a narrow loss in the competition. Windsurfing Championships Croquet The Croquet Club enjoyed a win against Portsmouth Grammar but lost to Radley and Winchester. Rifle Club visit Stade Athletics The Athletics Club had a fantastic season. The juniors enjoyed a very successful English Schools Track and Field Cup, narrowly missing out on a place at the National Final. The intermediates represented Abingdon superbly, travelling to Harrow, Bedford and Marlborough to compete against strong schools. The senior squad dominated the track, winning the Radley Relays and with many individual wins throughout the season. Special mention goes to James Connelly for his selection to run the 100m for Oxfordshire at the National Championships. Fifth year pupil Ethan Moody competed in the Techno Plus European Championships in Mondello, Sicily, coming 19th in a strong field of competitors. Golf Championships Abingdon fielded two teams at this year’s Oxfordshire Schools’ Golf Championships, and on a blustery and challenging day the boys played very well.
