Third year academic scholars visited Bletchley Park to learn about its codebreaking history. They tried their hand with an original enigma machine and the very one used in the film The Imitation Game. Good snow conditions and glorious sunny weather helped to make a very enjoyable week for the half term ski trip for 37 students and five staff in Saint Gervais in the French Alps. Third year students from Abingdon and St Helen’s enjoyed a pre-Christmas weekend in Strasbourg, sampling the festivities, seeing the sites and practising their French. Bronze DofE practice sailing expedition: Gosport-Cowes-Lymington- Southampton and back in challenging conditions with variable weather from blue skies, sleeting rain and strong winds to hail. 11 Fourth year students from Abingdon and St Helen’s spent eight days in Bielefeld improving their German language. The trip, planned to coincide with the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the exchange partnership, saw students spending time in school, sightseeing and taking part in an Anglo-German theatre project.
