16 September 2019 Abingdon Prep Pre-Prep Pre-Prep Sports Day Cotswold Wildlife Park Reception and Year 1 went on a fantastic trip to Cotswold Wildlife Park, where the boys had an amazing day filled with fun and new experiences. Surprisingly, many of the animals were alert and active despite the heat, however the wolves enjoyed lazing around in the shade. The boys enjoyed their picnic lunches, a ride on the train and an ice-cream. We certainly had a hot, busy and exciting time! The weather was perfect for our Pre-Prep Sports Day and a gentle breeze kept the young athletes cool as they took part in a range of activities from sack racing and target throwing to relay races and hurdles. All of Reception and Year 1 took part in team events in their houses. Year 2 took part in some activities on a slightly more competitive level and then everyone joined together for the traditional house relay race. It was a very close competition, with Griffin coming in just ahead of Unicorn with a few seconds to spare. The overall competition finished as follows: Griffin (1st), Dragon (2nd), Unicorn (3rd) and Phoenix (4th). The boys were rewarded with a delicious juicy lolly, generously provided by our JPA, before making their way home for a well earned rest! We learnt about Malcolm the python, Barry the bearded dragon, and the difference between the smashing gnashers of the alligator and Ricky the crocodile. What a fabulous way to end our topic on the rain forest.
